the first time I went to Knob Creek in 2000, the pole barn/gun show part of it had more NFA-specific stuff. The last time I went in 2009 I was only there for a few hours and I only visited the pole barn/gun show and at that point the pole barn seemed more like a run-of-the-mill gun show with ARs, uppers, accessories and not as much NFA-specific stuff as in the past.
The SAR West show is a giant 'regular'/run-of-the-mill gun show with several buildings and outdoor tents AND one building(the SAR building) that generally has a LOT of NFA-specific stuff. I haven't been in a few years, but I used to go every year for several years-and I imagine that the SAR building is still pretty full of a lot of NFA-specific stuff(and the Cold Steel people).
Since there isn't a MG shoot component to the SAR West show, there is no comparison to that aspect of Knob Creek. But along those lines, as far as MG shoots go, I would say the Big Sandy shoot blows Knob Creek out of the water-because even us mere mortals can get a spot on the line, you have a lot longer range with a mountain as a backstop and there are a lot of reactive targets including remote control airplanes. Also if you get lucky you get a spot wedged between Tom Bowers and Dan Shea :o)
