Over the years, as a minor, I had been told by most they were illegal. Yet on occasion some told me that I could get one. I was told I just needed to keep myself out of trouble and get old enough. There had been several obfuscations, mostly in Washington state laws. You can't own one. But you can sell them to anyone. The government will search your house without a warrant! You can't shoot them, unless you are licensed. What is licensed? Engaged in the business of manufacturing or selling to law enforcement. Washington state 1994 ban. The 1986 ban and most people generally misinformed not telling me how to do this. I didn't come from a firearms owning family. In 1997, I decided I had enough of the half truths and misinformation and made it a mission in life to get a machine gun. I didn't have money, but I had determination. It took me two more years before I was able to afford getting an FFL and the corresponding SOT and boom, I made my first M16. Next month it will be 20 years ago.I honestly wish I did not need an FFL to own MG's, but this is the way things are in my state.
I think I should say this though, the good folks on Subguns.com answered a whole lot of questions for me over the years and helped make this dream a reality for me. I for one am glad to mostly be rid of the trolls and that comes with having to sign into the page.
