Have a decent transferable collection but was lacking two MGs- a Thompson and an AK47. As petty as it sounds I just got tired of people asking me "do you have a tommy? do you have an AK?". I'm a shooter not collector so mine arent anything special (hurley for tommy and polytech fleming conversion-properly done ak). I dont care for the tommy - for shooting it that is. I never do. It only goes to the range when Im taking someone who I think would enjoy it a lot. The classic appeal , yada yada.
The AK47...Im still waiting on the local dealer stamp. I prob. wont shoot it much either. Its not an underfolder. I've shot plenty via my buddy's AK ...and I didnt care for it.
So there's that. Sure they round out the collection but ho-hum for shooting - I enjoy my hk sear hosts and AR15 and other SMGs and beltfeds thank you very much.
Of note my AK purchase 1.5 yrs ago was impulse buy. Looking at prices now I overpaid. $29k...and since purchase Ive seen that same gun offered as low as $25k so screw me. The AK might become the first MG I'll lose money on if I ever decide to sell (unlikely as I buy , not sell).
I guess I'd still say a "reasonable" mg collection deserves to include an AK and Tommy - even if they do kinda suck to shoot. hahahah. Flame away!
